Mindfulness has its roots in Buddhist meditation and Yoga. Jon Kabat- Zinn who practiced yoga and meditation thought they would be useful to help his clients with depression, anxiety, stress and pain management and developed the MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) course which is secular for this purpose. His teachings are the origins of the Mindfulness movement which was brought to the UK as MBCT by Mark Williams and his team.
The meditations are simple exercises based on observing your breathing and thoughts, gently relaxing your body and noting if there is any pain or tension and being in the moment, letting go of worry or the drive to do. Every time your mind wanders you bring it back to your breathing or body, the present breath or present moment. You need to practice regularly.
Get in Touch! You will need between 3-8 sessions, although, as you are in control of your own therapy length and intensity you can leave when you feel you can manage without my help. I always tailor make your therapy and give 100%, aiming to work with you as thoroughly and quickly as possible.
There are also group sessions in Cirencester, Bath and Bristol which last for six sessions and are cheaper than one to one work, although you are not able to discuss individual issues in quite the same way and the sessions follow a set structure, rather than individualised mindfulness therapy.
An initial FREE consultation of 15 minutes is available for you from Get Mind Fit to see if your problem would be appropriately treated with hypnotherapy. Afterwards, each session lasting around 50 minutes costs £100.
To cover administration costs, appointments not cancelled 48 hours beforehand or no shows may be charged a fee of £50.
